Patented Foam Backer
The foam backer serves two purposes:
- 1 It stops the conduction of heat.
- 2 It strengthens the panel creating tremendous hail resistance and walkability.
Our patented foam backer adds rigidity and is the key to the energy savings provided by the Atlas Metal Shake. The panels themselves reflect about 90% of the sun’s radiant heat and the foam backer blocks the conduction of heat. This system will keep your attic at ambient temperature saving you thousands in energy costs over the lifespan of your permanent roof. In other words, with one of our metal roofs, if it’s 95 degrees outside in the shade your attic will also be at 95 degrees unlike traditional asphalts roofs where attic temperatures can easily exceed 130 degrees.
